Creating Herbal Acne Treatment Bar Soap: A dIY Recipe for Blemish-Free Skin

Acne is often seen as an enduring battle, leading us down the rabbit hole of countless remedies that promise a solution. But the truth is, the use of pharmaceutical antibiotics and harsh chemicals isn't always necessary to treat acne. Embracing a more natural approach and incorporating herbal remedies can work wonders in clearing up your skin.

The Healing Power of Herbs

When it comes to healing facial blemishes, herbs reign supreme. Among the plethora of natural remedies, herbs stand out as powerful allies in the fight against acne. Some of my favorites include thyme, burdock root, comfrey, nettles, neem, tea tree, and peppermint. These botanical wonders, known for their diverse properties, form the backbone of an effective herbal acne treatment.

The Ultimate Herbal Acne Treatment Bar Soap

Allow me to introduce a DIY herbal acne treatment bar soap that has genuinely transformed my skincare routine. This soap, crafted using neem oil, castor oil, and tea tree along with the skin-loving herbs like thyme, burdock root, comfrey, and nettles, packs a punch against acne.

Get Ready to Tackle Blemishes Head-On!

Ingredients:

  • 10 ounces olive oil infused with dried thyme, burdock root, comfrey, and nettles
  • 10 ounces coconut oil
  • 2 ounces castor oil
  • 6 ounces neem oil
  • 3 ounces palm oil
  • 2 ounces beeswax
  • 4.5 ounces of lye
  • 10 ounces of water
  • 1 ounce tea tree oil
  • 1 ounce peppermint essential oil

Directions:

  1. Begin by accurately measuring the lye and water in separate bowls using a kitchen scale. Always run your recipe through a lye calculator for precise measurements.

  2. Combine the lye and water, ensuring the lye is added to the water slowly and carefully. Stir gently until the lye dissolves completely. Safety precautions should be followed when handling lye.

  3. Let the lye mixture cool while preparing the oils.

  4. Measure and melt all the oils and beeswax together in a pot over low heat.

  5. Pour the melted oils into a crockpot set to the lowest heat setting.

  6. Add the lye/water mixture to the oils in the crockpot and stir thoroughly.

  7. Using a stick blender, blend the mixture for 3-5 minutes until it reaches a "trace."

  8. Cover the crockpot and let the soap "cook" for about an hour until it turns somewhat transparent.

  9. Prepare your molds while the soap cooks.

  10. Add the essential oils to the soap mixture just before pouring it into the molds.

  11. Spoon the soap mixture into molds and allow it to cool and harden for 24 hours.

  12. Remove the soap from the mold and cut it into bars.

  13. Let the bars harden further on a tray with good airflow.

  14. Your first bar is ready to use, thanks to the hot processed method of soap-making!
