dIY - cOCONUT oIL sMOOTHIE rECIPES

A coconut oil smoothie is a great way to start off the morning. If you’re looking for more energy, stronger bones and healthier skin…then this smoothie will do the trick.
One of the most strikingly amazing health benefits of this oil is the lauric acid content – which contains many beneficial antibacterial properties. (And get this; the only other source that contains lauric acid is a mother’s milk)
Tips for Blending up a Coconut Oil Smoothie
Since the melting point for coconut oil is 76 F, that means any degree lower than 76 the oil will start to solidify.
When you blend up your smoothie be sure to add your C – Oil near the beginning before you start adding your cold ingredients. This prevents coconut oil clumps in your smoothie.
So, the procedure for this type of smoothie would be:
First add room temperature ingredients with your coconut oil in the blender, and blend.
Next add any powders or additives – flax seeds, hemp, or protein.
Next add any ice or frozen fruit you may have.
You can also keep your coconut oil from clumping in your cold smoothie, by liquefying the oil before you add it (it will liquefy at any degree above 76 degrees).
While the blender is whirling your yummy smoothie into creamy goodness, gently pour the coconut oil in a small stream into your blender. The oil will slowly blend into your smoothie and will be clump free. Yummy!
Strawberry Coconut-Oil-Smoothie
INGREDIENTS:
1 ½ cups almond milk – cows milk will work as just well
1 cup strawberries
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 banana (frozen or not – your choice)
1 tablespoon honey
Ice as need if you did not use a frozen banana
DIRECTIONS:
Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy! For added goodness sprinkle cinnamon on top!
Protein Coconut Power Smoothie
INGREDIENTS:
2 cup water
½ cup yogurt
4 large strawberries
1 tablespoon flax oil (*optional)
1 banana
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 scoop of protein powder (our favorite for this recipe is chocolate flavored)
Ice as needed
Directions
Blend in your blend until smooth and enjoy!
Berry Energy Smoothie
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup berries – of your choice
½ banana
½ cup milk – almond milk, coconut milk or whatever works best for you
½ cup water
1 ½ tablespoons coconut oil
½ cup ice
¼ cup orange juice
Ice as needed
DIRECTIONS:
Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!
Chocolate Milk Coconut Oil Smoothie
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons honey
1/8 cup pecans
2 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 ½ cups milk – almond milk, coconut milk or whatever works best for you
2 tablespoons coconut oil
DIRECTIONS:
Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy! Sprinkle cinnamon on the top to garnish!
