Golden Turmeric - dIY Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric (or a small piece of fresh turmeric root, grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (or a small piece of fresh ginger, grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Turmeric Mixture:

    • In a small bowl, combine the ground turmeric, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground black pepper. If using fresh turmeric and ginger, grate them finely.
  2. Boil the Water:

    • In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  3. Infuse the Turmeric:

    • Add the prepared turmeric mixture to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
  4. Add Milk:

    • Pour in the milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based). Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring it doesn't come to a boil.
  5. Sweeten and Flavor:

    • Add honey to sweeten the tea, adjusting the quantity to suit your taste. If desired, add a teaspoon of coconut oil for added richness and flavor.
  6. Strain and Serve:

    • Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the tea into your favorite mug to remove any residue. Discard the residue or reuse for compost.
  7. Enjoy:

    • Sip and savor the warm, golden goodness of your homemade turmeric tea. Feel free to adjust the ingredients to achieve your preferred taste and consistency.

Note: Turmeric can settle at the bottom of the cup, so give it a gentle stir if needed. Experiment with the ingredient ratios to find the perfect blend that suits your palate.
