Watermelon is packed with Vitamin C, which helps your body to use non-heme iron – this ensures that enough iron is in your red blood cells to assist in carrying oxygen to your hair follicles, promoting healthy hair. Collagen is also needed for healthy hair growth and watermelon helps promote collagen formation

Watermelon helps dry skin. It helps to seal in moisture and keeps the skin hydrated. It also helps to soothe and improve dry, scaly skin. Applying watermelon pulp or juice helps to soften and smoothen the skin.

Watermelon Fruit Extract, (Citrulllus Lanatus): Widely recognized and used as a skin conditioning agent and helps protect the DNA in skin cells from damage caused by UV-light induced free radicals.

Take some watermelon juice in a cup and use it as the final rinse after washing your hair with shampoo. The high amount of water in the watermelon helps to hydrate the scalp and treats dry and itchy scalp. Moreover, watermelon juice removes the build up and impurities from the scalp and strengthens hair follicles to prevent hair loss. Using watermelon juice on the hair regularly can give us soft and silky tresses.

2 tablespoons watermelon pulp
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
1 – 2 teaspoons jojoba oil

To make this mask, all you have to do is put the watermelon pulp and aloe vera gel into a small bowl and mix well. Add the jojoba oil and mix until you get a smooth, runny mixture.

Apply a thin layer of the mask to a clean face. Leave it on for around 20 minutes and during that time reapply every time your skin soaks it up. After 20 minutes, wash the mask off and apply a face cream.

wATERMELON + yOGURT fACIAL mASK

I love each of these ingredients separately, and together they make one of my favorite DIY face masks. It helps brighten my skin, fight dullness and fade occasional acne mark.

How to make it:

1 tablespoon watermelon juice
2 teaspoons thick yogurt
1 teaspoon rice flour

Mix well the thick yogurt and watermelon pulp. When smooth, add the rice flour and mix again to get a smooth paste. If you want your mask to be thicker, you can add some more rice flour.

Wash and exfoliate your face. Apply the mask evenly and leave it on for 10 – 15 minutes. Wash it off and apply a moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp.

wATERMELON + hONEY fACIAL mASK

Watermelon can somewhat help you control the skin oiliness, but its biggest advantage are its hydrating properties. Oily skin is often very dehydrated and dull looking. But this mask will refresh and replenish it in no time.

How to make it:

1 tablespoon watermelon pulp
2 teaspoons raw honey
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

To make this mask, just put all the ingredients into a small bowl. Mix everything well until your mask is smooth and runny. If you want, you can also add a teaspoon of kaolin clay, for some extra cleansing and oil-absorbing properties.

Apply the mask to a clean face, preferably after a gentle scrub. Do not let it dry on your face – every time it starts to dry, apply another layer. After 15 – 20 minutes, wash off the mask and apply a face cream right away.

wATERMELON + cUCUMBER fACIAL mASK

Both cucumber and watermelon are refreshing, cooling and super hydrating. The mask tones and soothes the skin, makes it plump and supple and adds a lot of natural glow.

How to make it:

1 tablespoon watermelon pulp
2 teaspoons cucumber puree
1 teaspoon coconut oil

I prepare cucumber puree similarly to watermelon pulp – blend a whole cucumber, then freeze in an ice cube tray. I also warm up the coconut oil a bit, so that I can easily mix it with the other two.

When you have all the ingredients ready, just mix everything well. You can apply it to your face with your fingers or using a cotton ball. Just keep applying it, not letting it get dry, for around 15 minutes. Rinse off and apply your face cream.
