cOLLOIDAL oATS are made by grinding oat grain, or Avena sativa, into a fine powder. It’s considered an emollient — a substance that softens or soothes the skin — because it packs fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients shown to benefit the skin.

Storage? My best suggested method for storing uRBAN wHIP sOAP bARS, is out in the open where air can circulate around the bar. This helps the bar to re-harden completely between uses, increasing the amount of uses you will get out of each bar

bLUEBERRIES are especially rich in a powerful type of antioxidants called anthocyanins. In addition to giving them their deep blue pigment anthocyanins inhibit the breakdown of collagen, the protein that keeps skin plump and elastic.
Blueberries are also full of vitamin C, which, like anthocyanins, also fights collagen breakdown. While we can’t stop the breakdown of collagen altogether (we naturally produce less of it as we age), eating blueberries can help bolster our supply.
Exactly how do antioxidants help our skin? In a nutshell, they stabilize the molecules that cause damage to our skin cells: free radicals. By doing so, they reduce free radicals’ ability to cause signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines.
Free radicals cause damage to our cells through oxidative stress. And while a certain amount of oxidative stress is normal, the job of antioxidants is to keep it at a manageable level.
So when you consume blueberries and other foods that contain antioxidants, you’re giving your body the tools it needs keep oxidative stress to a minimum.

oATS (also known as Avena Sativa) have been used for skin care for centuries — spanning back to ancient Roman times where it was used to treat eczema, burns, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
In the time that it’s been used for skin care, oatmeal has always been hailed for its anti-inflammatory properties thanks to the phenol it contains.
A clinical trial on the effects of colloidal oatmeal on the skin found that it soothed inflammation in the form of dryness, scaliness, roughness, itchiness, and irritation on the test subjects’ skin.
Oats contain polysaccharides, hydrocolloids, and fats which work together to create a film over the skin and lock in moisture, making oats a powerful emollient. To put it simply, oats add hydration to dry skin, which can be beneficial for sensitive skin, because excessive dryness often leads to flaking, itching, and irritation if it gets out of hand.
